Hi everyone !
I don’t remember if I’ve already told it to you or not, but if I write this blog, it is for my English lesson. If I’ve changed my blog’s theme, it’s actually because our English teacher gave us free rein to choose our subjects. And today I’m a bit bothered because I have difficulties to find an interesting theme.

To help me finding it, I already tried to ask myself stupid questions like “Mathilde, what interests you?” “Is there a subject about which you want to know more?”. Haha. What a help!

Well let me list you the amazing themes about which I thought:
-          A critic of The Lord of the Rings (my favorite movies J)
-          My point of view about the attack in Paris
-          Books of Ken Follett
-          The life of Rasputin (a fascinating character)

After one day of break and of reflection during which I went to school (what an amazing life!), I’ve finally found my subject: my opinion about the Danish television series : Borgen.

Borgen relates the life of a fictive Danish politician: Birgitte Nyborg who became prime minister of her country. We can concretely see the difficulty that she has to face during his term of office (inside her private and professional life). She is up for re-election but her approval rating makes a free fall and she fails. In the second season she is fighting to regain power.
Although this series isn’t very famous, it is very interesting. Borgen shows very well the machinery of state and the relation between politicians and media.

I naturally encourage you to watch this exciting series but you are absolutely not obliged (it's a free country!) J
Bye!

Why French is the best language ?

I am sure you are asking yourself : "Who is this stupid guy speaking on that topic in English ?", "Maybe a French ?" "Non jamais".
Of course I am French, and it is not of my own initiative if I speak of the French language in English. But no matters, I am sure that I will convince you of the beauty of French. Let's read some arguments about why this language is the best :

    •      Because France is a beautiful country of course !
    Normandy
    Marseille
    Paris

      Alsace
      Volcanos of Auvergne
    •

    •    Because it is the language of the songs of Claude François, Edith Piaf, Jean-Jacques Goldman, Stromae and Celine Dion (without forgetting Sexion d'assaut, Kaaris, Louise Attaque, Christophe Mae and all those new "singers" which even French do not know the name).

    • Because French is worldwide spoken :

    •   Because if you do a strike in French you will certainly be more credible.

    •   Because French got very nice sounds. Victor Hugo said : " La langue française [...] commençait à être choisie par les peuples comme intermédiaire entre l'excès de consonnes du nord et l'excès de voyelles du midi." That, approximately, wants to say : French language, began to be chosen by peoples as an intermediary between the excess of consonants of the north and the excess of vowels of the south. French is used by cosmetics and luxurious products to put a touch of elegance : the "French touch".

    •   Because it is very easy to learn. The grammar, the synthaxe, the spelling and the conjugation are incredibly simple. LOL. You are right, that was of course ironical.

I hope I have convinced you.
But I will tell you the truth, I don't think there are languages nicer or uglier than others (except Swiss-german, that is maybe the exception which proves the rule). You certainly noticed all my grammatical, vocabulary, conjugation and spelling mistakes and you will not be surprise if I tell you that the only reason I love French is because it is the language I speak the best (and, yes it is possible for me, without any mistakes).

Is it possible not to waste time with technology ?

I received last year a computer. I am very happy with it, and find that, actually, I can make things faster. For example, using Microsoft World, Excel, Wikipedia, etc... my homeworks are done nicer and quicker since it. But, paradoxically, I noticed that it wasn't why I'm not stressed and in a hurry any more.
So I ask  myself, does technology really save us time ?

The first thing is, how much time do I spend on computer ? I didn't have the answer, so I decided to look for averages. On average, computers are used 4 hours and 50 minutes a day. That is to say approximately 144 hours a month (6 whole days of computer). That is amazing !  Here we can see what people mostly do when there are on the Internet :

This is incredible how much time we can spend with useless things. I expected that most of my time spent on the Internet would be for Search and Emails but actually it isn't true. After rethinking it, it isn't so absurd. Am I really as efficient as I think I am ?
Well, who hasn't gotten lost on the Internet ? You can instantaneously have  every information you want but sometimes you lost what you really wanted to know. For example last week when I was doing mathematics exercises, I forgot what the property of the angles of a triangle were, instead of looking for it in a big book, I just used the Internet. But I suddenly got a question of a matter of life and death. How do people whistle with their fingers ? And that's how I lost 30 minutes watching videos of people whistling.
In the end the Internet can make us waste lots of time.

But there are also others digital tools :
    - GPS : instead of learning how to read maps, we only turn it on to see where to go
    - Smartphone : to be able to answer our emails at any moment
    - Definitively cars (if you consider them like technology) : our routes are widely shortened
    - Phone : to speak to people instantaneously
    etc.
Those technology save us time, we can now do things, that would before have taken us hours, almost in the blick of an eye.

Resulting, we are living in a society that doesn't like waiting. Before when a letter was sent, we had to wait days before receiving it, now with emails we can immediately receive them and it is demanded to be answered very fast.

I think technology does save us time, but it isn't used to entertainment, we use it to do more things, that's why we don't feel less busy. We are only accelerating our lives.
I don't know if you have the same problem of effectiveness as I have, but if you have solutions or method I would be very happy to hear them.
